Sewing Retreat Accomplishments

I was blessed to spend a weekend just sewing. No kids, no cooking, no breaking up fights, no screaming....just relaxing sewing time with some great friends and some great movies and music. Oh!! I did I mention that one of the ladies LOVES to cook so she cooks all the meals for us!! Love it! I highly recommend it to anyone! I managed to get quite a bit of my quilts done.  I forgot how time consuming it can be, but it is worth it in the end!

Here's a peak at my daughters quilt. Too bad I only have my old, and not good good camera to take pictures with. Maybe that will be one of my Christmas presents, a new 35 mm lens for my good camera , as taking pictures with my 75mm is kind of hard to do inside a small room! The quilt actually has NO red in it! The red that you can see on the polka dot print is fuchsia.

Jarrin has the manly outdoor print. I can't wait for him to see his!!
He LOVES fishing. He even pointed this fabric out at the store and begged me to get it for him, so he will be happy I am sure of it!

I did manage to get a dress for Keeley sewn too. I LOVE sewing! I can't wait to finish all my Christmas sewing for all the kids!!
Thankfully I will get another weekend to get as much as I can done in a week and a half !! YAY!!

MY new skirt!

Okay so between home school, work, kids, cooking, laundry and cleaning, I managed to get a skirt sewn for me! YAY! I also am planning on sewing up another one! I bought some rediculously cute shoes a few weeks ago but needed a lovely grey and a black skirt to wear them with. I have the black one done and now I am working on my grey one. I have a retreat coming up that will help me get quite a bit done for my Christmas sewing. Woohoo!! I will post up pictures hopefully soon. Oh that reminds me...I need to get a new 35-70mm lens. I haven't replaced the one my boy threw down and broke. Oh! and pictures of the quilts I am working on too...so much to photograph!

Still Alive!

Summer has been a strange one and a busy one too! I haven't been able to do anything much as far as sewing went. I have started to teach my 6 yr old daughter how to sew and she is working on a pillowcase that, little does she know, will match her Christmas quilt perfectly! So I can't wait to show the results of that! Then I will be teaching my 7 yr old boy. It will be loads of fun. We are also getting ready to start our home school year up Sept 1st. Fun fun fun!!

Fixed Project

So this is one of my daughters Birthday outfits. The top was too loose to go together well with the full skirt so I got to try shirring on the shirt. I saw a tutorial on it a few months ago and have been waiting to try it. It gave it such a better fit! I also noticed that she had the top on backwards! hehehe. Oh well!!

The Birthday Outfits

I think that the pink"wrap" dress is one of my favorite patterns now. I fell in love with the design of it and the material.

I also love the brown/flower top and skirt. The skirt was this tutorial that I found online. I also decided to add some shirring to the middle to help gather in the top a bit since the skirt is so full. My sweet daughter is trying to hold it up with her chin so I could take a picture! What a good girl.
Now I think maybe I'll get around to making something for me .....maybe......just maybe..... :D

A Dress For a Birthday

So I spent the last week finishing my Daughters Birthday clothes and her dress that she wanted to wear on her Birthday. I had lots of material left over from my skirt that I made and she really loved the colors and pattern of it so she asked if I could make something with it, so this is what she got. She was a happy girl when she saw it, which makes me a happy Mom.

Finished Project

So I finally had time to sit and finish my skirt! I love it, and it was pretty easy to sew up. I decided to add the navy ribbon on the bottom to add a bit more to it. I must say though, being the first pleats I have sewn, I LOVE PLEATS!!! I think I am addicted to them! They are flattering to my figure(I can use any help, hehehe!) and they add such a fun style. I have the PERFECT blue shirt to match and I plan on making some Hot pink jewelery to go with it. I'll post it when it's finished.

Independence Day Skirt

Okay, today is the last day of school and my dear daughter will be in 2nd grade with my son! It's a beautiful thing! SO, no skirt for me, BUT I did finish My daughters' for her for the 4th. It only took 1 hour!.....at 11:40 PM!! Yeah, I promised it would be done for her to wear for church and I had forgotten to do it that week so I stayed up after my date night until 12:40 AM to finish it! She loved it though and got lots of compliments. Now to finish mine for next year, I guess.
So here it is... Silly face and all!

What I DO have done

Okay so now that the skirt pattern has been decided, this is what I did get done! I had some material that I got a while back and there was only 1 yard left of both pieces of material so I got both and decided to find a pattern that would fit it for a dress for my girl. I came up with these 2 that she can wear a shirt under. She LOVES them!

I was in love with this first material and I even debated making me a skirt out of it if they'd had more! McCall's 5572
See how cute it is!
The mauve color was so beautiful .I used white for a contrast and then I will finish the bodice top with some fabric flowers.
The ties on top are so cute too. I love this pattern. McCall's 4814
So that's what I have done and now I will be working on my skirt!! YAY!!

Okay, so through my crazy schedule, I plan on sewing this beautiful fabric into something! That something is an...I DON'T KNOW!! Skirt, dress, blouse? Hmmm. This pattern thing is so bold for me. I am thinking skirt. What do you think?
These seem to be some of the choices that a few people picked out.
bottom right one. Yellow with the black trim.

dress B, the pink floral.

C, blue shirt.

I also have a simple A line skirt that I didn't get posted up. but that is where I am at with it. Now I just need to decide which one for the material. What do you think?

The Start of a New Wardrobe.

The journey begins! I really LOVE patterned, bright, fun material, but for some reason or another I always go to plain, solid colors! The rest of 2010, I am going to try my hardest to make and create more fun, exciting and colorful clothes for me and for my 3 kids. Maybe even my dear husband. I am sure though that a classic plain color will come around every once in a while! I also love to craft, scrapbook, and cook, so who knows what will be posted!!

Here's my solid color wardrobe! I love the greens, blues, browns and blacks. Can you tell!

I do dress it up with the jewelery that I make so that helps I guess.
This is one of my....oh wait my only patterned clothing that I wear.

So you see that I truly do need a more colorful and patterned wardrobe!!
